How do I become a home tuition student?
Once we have had a referral, you will be contacted by a senior teacher from HHTS who will visit you at home to find out about you, what subjects you are doing and what interests you. Then we can make decisions about which members of our teaching team would be most appropriate for your educational needs.
How many hours a week will I have lessons?
This is variable, you may be offered between two and five sessions a week which will be between one and two hours long.
Where will we work?
We will need a quiet area with a table in your house, away from TVs and other distractions.
Will I be on my own with the teacher?
In line with safeguarding policy, the HHTS insist that there is always another adult present when we visit.
Do I need to have a computer at home?
No, your teacher is well equipped with an iPad and a laptop.
What about a pencil case?
Your teachers will also bring all the resources (iPad, books, pens, paper, glue etc) needed for the session.
Will you contact my school?
Yes we will, we will talk to your teachers to find out what work they would like you to be doing and what your classmates are up to, so that you don’t fall behind. We can also work on any areas where you feel you need to improve.
Will you talk to my school about the reason I am being taught at home?
Definitely not. Your medical situation is confidential and we don’t discuss how you are doing with external parties unless you specifically ask us to.
What if I am not well enough for my lesson?
If you are not well enough, your parent or guardian should let the teacher or head teacher know as soon as possible. Of course if you feel unwell during a session then the teacher will stop the session if needed.
